Getting ready at the castle
When I arrived at Kasteel De Wittenburg on the day of Wade and Gunnar's wedding, the wedding party was busy practicing the recession and setting up the ceremony space. It was a hive of activity, but everyone was in good spirits and excited for the day ahead. Before you keep on reading, go check this whole double wedding slideshow below!
Wade and Gunnar both got ready in different rooms at the castle, with the help of their friends. Wade and Gunnar both wore a chic black tuxedo. Both men looked amazing in their wedding attire.
After getting ready, the whole wedding party gathered in the garden by the fountain for Wade and Gunnar's first look. Wade arrived first, to loud cheers from the crowd. Gunnar then emerged with champagne and glasses, and the two grooms greeted each other with a warm embrace. There were many tears of joy from everyone present.
First look moment by the fountain
After the first look, the couple had a photoshoot around the castle and in the surrounding forest. This was a special time for them to relax and enjoy each other's company before the ceremony.
Laos Wedding tradition
As Gunnar's roots are from Laos, Wade took part in a traditional Laotian groom parade ceremony. This ceremony involves the groom and his wedding party marching through the village, announcing their upcoming wedding and asking for the blessings of the elders.
Explanation of the Laotian groom parade tradition
The Laotian groom parade tradition, also known as the Hae Keuy, is a joyous ceremony that takes place on the day of the wedding. The groom and his wedding party march through the village, announcing their upcoming wedding and asking for the blessings of the elders.
The groom is typically dressed in his wedding attire, and he is accompanied by his best men, groomsmen, and other family members and friends. The procession is often accompanied by music and dancing, and it is a festive occasion for the entire community.
The Hae Keuy is a way for the groom to show his respect for his elders and to ask for their blessings on his marriage. It is also a way for the couple to share their happiness with the community and to celebrate their love for each other.
Western Wedding Ceremony
The main ceremony took place outside in the back garden of the castle. The wedding party stood on either side of the grooms, and their best friends spoke beautiful words about their love story. The ceremony ended with the rings exchange, the kiss, and cheers from the crowd as the newlyweds walked back down the aisle.
Inside the castle, the couple was greeted emotionally by their best friends. After a few minutes, they came back outside to be welcomed by the rest of the guests, who blew bubbles to celebrate their marriage.
Castle Wedding Reception
During the reception, there were many emotional congratulations, laughter, and great moments. The couple also cut a beautiful cake, which everyone enjoyed.
At the end of the reception, we did the group photos and ended with a group drone shot to get everyone in. This was followed by the dinner, with amazing speeches from family and friends.
The day ended with an amazing party that the couple opened with a first dance. After that, the dancefloor was never empty. We ended the day with a few creative shots outside in the dark with the castle as a backdrop.
It was an honor to be a part of Wade and Gunnar's special day. Their love for each other was evident in every detail, and it was truly a magical occasion.
It was so hard to choose, and I went way over the limit for a blog but here are they. Check some of my favorites of the day!
